February 24, 2025
Tasos Mitselis
It opened just before Christmas on Kapsali Street in Kolonaki, serving delicious lobster rolls, and went viral in no time. It`s been long since we`ve seen such well-presented and elegant street food in Athens.

The reviews we have published on FNL for street food restaurants can be counted on one hand. However, Nosh in Kolonaki piqued my interest enough to be put under the microscope for this column. The concept created by Linos Ieridis on Kapsali Street showcases an elegant delicacy that originated in America and is gaining popularity. It has also made its way to Europe, where it was been embraced in London before arriving in Greece. This delicacy is the lobster roll—a brioche bun filled with lobster meat and accompanied by various sauces in multiple variations. How far one wants to take it is up to them. At Nosh, which is roughly interpreted as something one craves, they offer just six sandwich options, as well as several side dishes and three desserts to finish. While the lobster roll remains their signature item, the menu includes a delightful shrimp roll, two meat variations, and a vegan option of a beetroot burger sandwich. In hindsight, I should have tried it, although, on this first visit, I focused on more guilty pleasure options.

So, I found the Lobster Roll at Nosh to be very good; the brioche was fluffy, buttery, and light, while the lobster and hollandaise filling created a tasteful combination. If you enjoy caviar, you can add it to your sandwich for an extra touch of luxury, offered at at a reasonable price of 23 euros for 10 grams. It may not be the best caviar on the market, but it serves its purpose without pricing itself out of reach. In the shrimp roll, the shrimp is paired with mayonnaise and chorizo. It`s delicious, though a bit more chorizo would enhance the flavour even further. The shrimp and lobster in their arancini are tasty, but the crust is slightly oily. The hot dog did not impress.

I wasn`t expecting anything extraordinary, but their brownie is decent, with just the right amount of melty chocolate inside. Nosh also has a few sidewalk tables, but the real atmosphere is at their marble bar. However, a concept primarily built around bubbles should also consider adding more wine options—champagne, white, rosé, and red—to better resonate with the dynamic, metropolitan nature of the restaurant. Enriching their list would certainly be worthwhile.
