A space with identity, character, and personality. Charlie Dos is Glyfada`s urban retreat, unlike anything around it—and that is its greatest asset.
  • URBAN, WARM, AUTHENTIC: CHARLIE DOS IS THE UNEXPECTED GEM OF GLYFADA | The Bars

In the heart of Glyfada, where daily life pulsates intensely and the nightlife has its own rhythms, Charlie Dos stands out. Not only because it exudes an air of European urban elegance, but primarily because it is a space built with authenticity.

The story begins in 2014, when Kostas Iliopoulos opened a small 34-square-metre bar-café in the centre of Glyfada. The first Charlie was born out of determination, instinct, and dedication. Seven years later, the need for evolution, space, and breathing room, combined with the upheaval of the pandemic, led him to take the next step: Charlie Dos. New location, same DNA, but with greater maturity.

As the owner, Kostas Iliopoulos, says, "I wanted to create a space that accommodates me." And it truly does—offering music selections that resonate with him—primarily ‘black’ music—along with clean flavours and, ultimately, an all-day philosophy that is served meaningfully, not superficially.

Charlie Dos doesn’t try to impress; it does so effortlessly, and I realised this from the moment I walked through its doors. The decor was curated by Alex Petrakis, and this is evident in every corner: from the earthy colour palette and urban boho design to the raised bar that brings the customer to the bartender`s level, creating an engaging experience. As the owner stated, "I didn’t want it to be like everything else in Glyfada." And it isn’t. Charlie Dos is a bar with character and substance.

The clientele of Charlie Dos is diverse but shares common traits: people who appreciate quality, who love the ritual of drinking and the culture of an all-day bar. From the morning, local professionals, remote workers, and mothers taking a break from their responsibilities arrive, while in the evenings it fills up with groups, couples, and friends looking for drinks, food, or simply good music. I was struck by how many people were there who didn’t speak Greek, and as Kostas mentioned to me, it is preferred by many foreigners living or working in the area.

Cocktails, Wines, Coffee, and Brunch

The experience at Charlie Dos begins early. From 8:00 AM, you’ll find specialty coffee and a brunch menu with a comfort focus and creative twists—ranging from traditional Greek scrambled eggs to Oreo pancakes with caramelised banana. As the day progresses, the spotlight shifts to wine: the list is extensive, featuring personal selections from Spain and Latin America, alongside carefully chosen Greek labels. If something keeps you lingering at the bar, it`s the cocktails: signature creations with character and aromas that transport you—from the smoky Fumado Plata to the elegant Mediterranean Job with Malfy gin and grapefruit soda.

And of course, the food is not an afterthought, but an integral part of the experience. From sea bass ceviche and beef tartare to caramelised pork belly and beef steak with cashew paste and tortilla, the menu consistently supports the eclectic identity of the venue.

Charlie Dos is many things—but primarily, it is an experience that doesn’t need to raise its voice to win you over. It’s the place where you can start your day with coffee, continue with a glass of wine at lunch, enjoy a burger in the afternoon, and finish with a smoky tequila cocktail in the evening. It’s a meeting point that aims to make everyone feel good and, above all, comfortable. And it succeeds. Ultimately, it stands as proof that a venue in Glyfada can have its own character rather than merely following the trends of the area.
