The renowned Italian luxury yacht brand, exemplified by the iconic Riva Aquarama crafted from wood, has announced an exciting collaboration with Hotel de Mar, Gran Meliá in Majorca. This partnership aims to create a lounge that combines the elegance of Riva’s distinctive style with the Mediterranean sophistication of the hotel.

The lounge has been decorated with specially crafted furniture that reflects the brand’s nautical heritage. From the striped bench and tables made of mahogany, reminiscent of the Riva’s bow decks, to the iconic Aquarama chairs, plush sofas, and decorative souvenirs, all elements come together to create an ideal, all-day experience in a space nestled within the hotel’s lush, seaside garden.

Hotel de Mar is the first in Spain to be part of Riva’s curated collection of renowned destinations, joining prestigious locations such as the Yacht Club de Monaco in Monte Carlo, the Gritti Palace in Venice, and the Jeddah Yacht Club in Saudi Arabia. This five-star hotel, operated under the Meliá Hotels International brand, enjoys a prominent position on Illetes Beach, making it an ideal destination for luxurious getaways and a preferred choice for discerning clients associated with Riva.

Beyond its elegant style, the lounge offers dining throughout the day in both indoor and outdoor settings. Aiming to showcase the flavours of the Mediterranean, it serves dishes featuring seafood and ingredients that reflect the culinary richness of Majorca and wider Spain. Similarly, the beverage selection includes Mediterranean-inspired signature cocktails that highlight ingredients such as Sóller oranges and Italian amaretto.

The space also features a small private area capable of accommodating groups of up to six people. Guests can also enjoy a ride on a motorised Rivamare, offering private excursions to nearby beaches, exploring idyllic coves of Majorca, and along the Sierra de Tramuntana.

For those who prefer firm ground (a curious choice, perhaps), there’s an option for a morning tour of the area, culminating in a leisurely lunch at the Riva lounge.

Overlooking the stunning Illetes beachfront, the resort has been a symbol of luxurious hospitality and Majorca’s architectural heritage for more than 60 years. Through its collaboration with Riva, Hotel de Mar further elevates its offering by introducing new exclusive experiences for both guests and external visitors.

This partnership enhances the significance of the exceptional resort, which also hosts the refined Bombon Beach Club by Alberta Ferretti and the award-winning Arrels restaurant by Marga Coll. The building, designed by renowned Spanish architect José Antonio Coderech, is famously known as “the chocolate building” due to its distinctive, elegant façade.

The Riva Lounge at Hotel de Mar Gran Meliá is part of a broader collection of Riva Destinations, featuring locations in various, highly intriguing settings. It also marks a significant step in the brand’s expansion beyond the traditional yachting world, bringing its distinctive aesthetic and experience into luxurious hotel environments.

Moreover, it’s almost certain that we will soon see a new collection of furniture and lighting designed under the Riva signature, as it appears the brand has firmly entered the decorative space. The Riva lounge at Hotel de Mar Gran Meliá is the first of its kind to welcoming external visitors.
