The urban version of Terroirist has made its way to Pangrati, offering an exceptional selection of wines from small-scale producers, complemented by thoughtfully crafted comfort food. The venue honours the vibrancy of the city—acknowledging its character while elevating the atmosphere, making it a truly captivating addition to Athens’ gastronomic and cultural landscape.
It’s not just a wine bar. It’s a wine bar bistro that originated from the success of its Chalandri location but has evolved into something entirely its own. Terroirist in Pangrati doesn`t seek to impress with luxury; it wins you over in a different way—through meticulous attention to detail, a deep understanding of wine, a friendly kitchen with a culinary perspective, and a space that speaks the language of city life in Athens. It’s a place that’s unafraid to educate, to host, and to invite you back — perhaps even more often than you initially expected.

Terroirist Pangrati does not seek to replicate itself. It is the most contemporary, urban evolution of a concept that already distinguished itself in the north of Athens. With a clear focus on the city centre, it captures the vibrant energy of Varnava Square and the surrounding area — lively, sociable, and welcoming to all kinds of visitors. Opened just over two months ago, it feels as though it has always been part of the neighbourhood. For context, the same space previously housed the intriguing and innovative concept of Superfly.

Behind the project are Damianos Asimenios, Giannis, and Demosthenis Georgiou, the team who launched Terroirist in Chalandri, originally in collaboration with Zisis Vitta and Vangelis Domopoulos. Vangelis also serves as the sommelier, ensuring that the experience in the glass remains cohesive, expressive, and engaging—featuring a wine list of 22 by-the-glass options and over 100 bottles in total, ready to be opened.

But what’s perhaps the most exciting aspect? The weekly “News of the Week,” which consistently introduces something new to the table. Three new wines and two dishes that spark interest both in us and within the team’s creative process, constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation and discovery.

Terroirist is not exclusively aimed at hardcore oenophiles. Rather, it is a non-typical wine bar that welcomes a diverse clientele — from those just beginning their wine journey to seasoned connoisseurs. Everyone has a place in a venue that seamlessly combines exceptional products, atmosphere, and knowledge at the highest level. The staff are friendly, well-informed, and always eager to guide you through the experience. You can enjoy your drink with ease, learn without pretence, and typically leave with a story about the wine you`ve tasted — not just the technical details of a label. After all, that is the magic of wine: it is filled with countless stories waiting to be told, countless stories that deserve to be heard.

The menu at Terroirist is firmly rooted in a comfort-food ethos, yet it is executed with a high level of technique and a distinctive sense of style. The carpaccio of sea bass with fried capers and the vitello tonnato are just the beginning—and best for the start. The chicken, accompanied by rich corn cream and a spiced biscuit, has the power to pause conversations momentarily. And naturally, the potato, topped with Parmesan and aioli, makes for an ideal accompaniment—whether for that first glass or the final one of the evening.

The selection of cheeses and charcuterie is exclusively sourced from Greek artisan producers: Crete’s Graviera, Kozani cheese with truffle, Macedonian blue cheese, finocchiona salami, and prosciutto from Giannitsa. Every item on your plate has a purpose — and that attention to detail truly makes a difference. Naturally, everything is designed for sharing with friends, enhancing the convivial dining experience.

Additionally, there is an extensive well-curated wine and spirits selection, including a variety of cocktails. From mezcal-based palomas to signature blends featuring rosé and fresh fruit, the drinks programme caters to all preferences. Here, each guest can start or end their evening exactly as they wish—without any restrictions or formality.

Terroirist in Pangrati is not merely a relocation of the original venue from Chalandri; it is a complete, fresh, and welcoming experience that merges wine, excellent food, and good company in the most contemporary way. Visitors do not need to have an in-depth knowledge of wine. All that’s required is the desire to enjoy an evening that unfolds beautifully, one sip at a time. It’s about having fun, relaxing, and perhaps leaving with a new story to tell.
